Pushing early video AI to hallucinate.

While I don't believe AI will replace creative people, I won't pass up an opportunity to use a new tool for free. An AI company, Runway, held a 48 hour film competition with unlimited access to their video generator tool. I felt it was the perfect opportunity to push and stretch the AI to make intentionally surreal generations, what better way to explore the experience of being laid off?

Interrogating the mundane.

For a film class focused on long takes, my group decided to simply film real life unfolding around us: a dining hall, dance marathon, the library. The longer you look, the stranger it gets. A meditation of the mundane becomes an interrogation.

I made that term up. It's similar to the sketches above, but with smaller budgets and no scripts! No tripods, no lights, and we were lucky to have a separate person for sound.
